Not A Child Anymore Poem by Randy McClave

Not A Child Anymore

When we were young we acted like children
Many times with false promises and lies,
When we were in our youth we were a child
So, we always wore a different disguise.
Of course we always did what children do
And of course we had no reasoning or even a plan,
We always did without any thoughts or a slight clue
Then we grew up, and we became woman and man.
An adult always honors all of their commitments
And a child always forgets or seldom does,
A child always and only thinks, "What about me! "
But, an adult always thinks about, "you" and "us".
A child always points their finger and blames others
An adult though always accepts their responsibilities,
While children always run back to their mothers
Whereas an adult never seeks those liabilities.
A child always lives off of someone else
To always receive and get them what they got,
And an adult lives to always help someone else
What they own is from the sweat and pain that they sought.
A child relies on themselves and always on family
Where an adult though never seeks that facade,
A child never give thanks or gives an apology
But, an adult always relies and gives their trust in God.
