Not A Pretty Girl Poem by Michelle Bradshaw

Not A Pretty Girl

I’m not a pretty girl
no that’s not me
But what I am is beautiful and so very unique.
I’m not a pretty girl
That’s easy to see
But I’m poised and confident;
there’s so much treasure in me.
I can be gorgeous and sexy depending on how I feel
But it’s ok if I’m not made like a doll
I’m a woman that’s for real.
My worth is not just in my looks
I’m full of life and love with so much to give
So, at the end of the day
I lay down to a peaceful night’s sleep
content with whom God made me to be.
I’m not candy sweet pretty that much I know
But I wouldn’t trade all of my talent’s
and inner beauty to just be “Pretty”

COMMENTS OF THE POEM
Denis Martindale 05 August 2013

A recent poem of mine reflects on The Creative Woman. It's based on a photographer and a calligrapher. Another poem reflects upon inner and outer beauty and it's called Herein Is Beauty. I like this poem you've shared as it reminds us that we may be tempted to trade up at any time in our lives, yet our gifts and our character must not be so easily dismissed, for who knows our eternal destiny without them?
