Not Even A Word —not Anymore Poem by Udaya R. Tennakoon

Not Even A Word —not Anymore

Rating: 1.0

Enemies

I have had, by their own view,

But through the contemplation of my mind

I learn, and now I realise:

I don`t have them anymore, since I confounded them

Fault of the mind? It opened the door to the ego

And a safe house was built,

Within which my enemies were locked

Wisdom, then, took the key and opened it—

No more doors, windows or walls

Basement of evil was removed

Though I could not inform anyone

I was the sole witness

Should I send a message or meet them?

Necessarily not, perhaps if we were face-to-face...

Nothing to squabble over

Nothing to go to war for

I am without arms

Not even angry words —not anymore
