Not Guilty Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Not Guilty

Not guilty

Ladies and gentlemen of jury
-let me, us, intervene
- "Alek, Is Not Guilty! "

Different was sky
-pale blue with sun out
-visible planes' wakes; very high.
-with movements and the talks
-seeming right; promised spring.

Men, women, young and old
-hand in hand, light-clothed
-smiled, shined as does gold…

He, Alek, immigrant of a kind
-had rented white truck
-drove, jumped to sidewalk
-killing some, injure some…

He, Alek, child of war,
-cold and hut, through time
-both imposed and local…
-in his veins
-blood of Yerevan.

Though settled bodily
-still felt behind bars!
-still felt displaced
-still felt on exile!

Rejected and ignored
-fell for the Internet and show-offs.
-He shouted with plea to police:
- "I have gun, shoot, kill me! "

Alek was tired of this living!
Alek is innocent and victim!

Let us find the guilty.
Let us find the guilty.
Let us find the guilty.
