Not Just Cyrus Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Not Just Cyrus

Not just Cyrus

I am not kite, balloon
-neither fan, nor a bag
-wind comes, goes
-if fills, it empties
-if lifts, it will drop

I am firm on ground
-though furnace, volcano
-burning and spitting…
-the ember and fire

Have been a stone in
-the river and current
-have turned, rolled
-taken shapes…
-changed the faiths
-and cultures
-everyone enriching…

Cyrus who is well known
-is only one of us
-is not all

But he is a great example
-'Do well for perfection,
-learn to be generous
-in help and forgiveness.'

He revived the nations
-returned them to their homes
-when slaved, displaced

'We are all human…
-everyone is free, equal…
-regardless of colours and gender, '
-this is what we believe and he said
-he talked of our beliefs as did say
-Rumi, with Moses and the Shepherd
-Zakani, when Moses faced Carver…
-same is done by Saadi and others
-many of our leaders and writers…
