Not In This Life - Poem by Hasmukh Amathalal

'Not in this life dear' she shyly told
I was too shy to be bold
She was just before me
Uncared, unmoved and free

She held my hand and whispered
Silently spelled and murmured
I had no sense to pick those words
I was floating with some request to lord

I am your inspiration alright
But whole world I can't fight
It may not be equally right
She was whispering very light

Whole of family and beautiful children behind
I can never be against them and be unkind
Some of the realities can't be turned blind
Look around and have suitable match to find

'Why you want to write about me' She raised head
I am dry leaf now and may provide no way to lead
You are my first preference but alas! No way out
What else is there o consider and talk about?

I gathered strength and tried to open speech
Tongue failed to speak and tried to reach
She could not bend properly to give effect
I cried within for my cowardice act

Will you not hold me till last?
Now I was moving very fast
Stared in her eyes and posed question
I want sacred and most desired relation

Please speak to me else I shall go insane
I am something else and not simple fan
I would love to be as near as possible
Can't you bail me out from trouble?

No love, you are sincere but won't work
She politely turned me down with jerk
I was simply grounded as crest fallen
She tried to speak and kept then mum even

I won't survive poetically
You are not mine physically
But what can be done in fact really
The relation to stand for worth beautifully
