Not Life, Death Has Deeper Stake Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Not Life, Death Has Deeper Stake

I wake one day only for long to sleep,
And suffer fate to find if life is fake,
But learn li'le still: what we sow's what we reap.

Death looks real all through the life to creep,
And crawl along like a slithering snake,
I wake one day only for more to sleep.

A friend may not keen friendship keep,
Death, friendship nor its date does break,
O ne'er over its shoulder peep.

Life a tiny blip of time is, no leap,
To break bread with journeymen, friends to make,
I wake one day only for long to sleep.

To live, forget— not to find meaning deep,
To swim or sink in life's shallow a lake,
Life's to learn: sowing gives no right to reap.

We live to gather light in each round trip,
Not so much life, death has deeper a stake;
I wake one day only for long to sleep,
To try and learn: what we sow's what we reap.
