Not Really Childs Play Poem by Paul Brookes

Not Really Childs Play

Rating: 3.0

It came complete with no explanations
outer layer intact.

not Ikea I thought this ones been built already,
still the instructions are by no means clear.

feed one end and clean the other
and in between just give lots of love.

remember please kept it the right way up,
remember it can if left to own devices wriggle away.

the outer casing is delicate and bruises easily
but be warned there is no volume or off switch.
must be watched at all times and keep away from danger.

N.B. welcome to parenthood.

It's serious business to keep that little life-flame burning, but it brings out playfulness in us. Mother or not, we all have mother reflexes. Its night sobbing will pierce you to the heart. For the first few months always keep an eye out; Be careful what it might stuff in its mouth.
