Not So Golden Age.. Poem by Lodigiana Poetess

Not So Golden Age..

The words on the label are smaller I'm sure
That's why I can't read them like I did before.
And as for the tops on the jar of my jam,
I need bigger biceps now, just like a man.
To look in the mirror and see a grey hair
and know that my chin has a few growing there.
When thinking of gifts that the family could buy
it's electric blankets that now catch my eye
those handsome young men in my youth that were there,
now only stand up to give me their chair.
The wine glass at arms reach has now been replaced,
andpink grinning dentures in soak are showcased.
The once perky boobies havesadly gone south,
and lipstick now bleeds in the cracks round my mouth.
My eyes squint to read and my knees have a squeak
and laughing and coughing could cause me to leak.
Yet whilst all these things could just lead me to seethe
at least when I wake up- I'm thrilled I still breathe!
