Nothin' Other Than Unwindin'

Nothin’ other than unwindin’
of unhappiness occurs
when I see that you’re not findin’
any part of me that stirs
your heart or your imagination,
so I’ll pour my thoughts to you
in poetry, a word libation,
and hope you’ll take from it a cue,
and try rewindin’ me as tightly
as when we once played hide-and-seek,
and sat together daily, nightly,
every hour, day and week,
discovered by each other, found
to be the territory we most
desired, till we ran aground
like knights on a utopian coast.
Unwindin’, there is nothing but
unhappiness, but I’m sure
that if you find my heart your gut
will tell you I’m your troubadour.
