Nothing But Grace Poem by Gary James Smith

Nothing But Grace

Nothing But Grace

Nothing but grace...how amazing
It was there for me all of the time
And I never knew it until I read God's Word
That Christ's saving grace could be mine
What a moment when that realization
Dawned upon this sinner's heart
I was smitten to the core of my being
My God...how great Thou art!

Love dispensed in willingness
He died the just for the unjust
Although we deserved God's wrath for our sin
He took sin's fullest payment for us
It took a crown of thorns...
It took a Cross of agony...
The shedding of His own precious blood
To obtain our liberty...

He never answered back with vengence
But kept Himself under full restraint
The love of God in Jesus Christ
On His character...not one taint!
He hands extended me mercy
And His hands extended me grace
How could I refuse such a Saviour
Who offered me such an embrace

Now close to Him I am walking
My Saviour constantly at my side
He will never leave or forsake me
Hallelujah! ...praise God! ...He abides!
With my soul it is well...it is well!
I'm living on forgiveness's plain
I'm now enjoying an abundant life
And I'll never be the same again!

Saved by grace through faith
By Christ's death there at Calvary
When I saw myself for the sinner I was
He reached out His hands for me
His grace has been more than sufficient
I'm enjoying it everyday
There's nothing to compare with His so great Salvation
Find your's in Him today!

There's a depth to God's redeeming love
Come and plunge in today
Drink to the full of Salvation's Cup
Let Jesus Christ be your Stay
He has power for your transformation
Let Him transform your life today
From the Kingdom of darkness unto His glorious Light
Grace will lead you all the way!

Hallelujah what a Saviour!
