Nothing But Lies Poem by Mario, Lucien, Rene Odekerken

Nothing But Lies

Words spill like water,
clear at first, then clouded.
Promises stretch thin,
paper-thin, air-thin, nothing at all.

Eyes that once held light
now shift, now turn away.
A touch that meant forever
lingers only in memory.

The air between us is heavy,
filled with things unsaid,
with truths buried
beneath soft, careful deceptions.

Nothing was real,
nothing but lies,
and even those
were beautifully told.
