Now That Prevention... - Poem by Douglas Scotney

Minimum numbers
and concentration on expense
long gave more sense
to mopping-up after murder
than to its prevention.

Now the tables are turned.
We're sick of the mopping-up.
We're surveilling
and finding scapegoats
and cheapening prevention.
