Nowhere Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Nowhere

Rating: 4.5

Nowhere

Heard them say:
"He sat there,
Looked nowhere."

I wondered:
"Is wandered? "

Read and read,
Saw the depths.

Found him lost and in shock,
From imposition
Of the faiths and cultures
With changes in the ways
Of living…now and then!

Old Cree, and hunter,
Enforced into reserve
Saw nothing in cattle
Except meat, buffalo.

Around him spirits
Lived and loved
Patiently…

Stared at walls, tepee's,
Heard the hide speaking:
"Remember pound making? "

"Yes, I do! " He replied
And immersed in the time
Of the bows and arrows
With tricks of the teams
For fooling buffalo...

Lingering in now, then,
Used hermit, Lodge, Sweat,
To have wings of thunder
And fly to space,
In trance, he met the spirits
Comforted, lost, relieved.
