O Nightingale, I Beg You, To Tell Her How I Feel Poem by Mohammad Younus

O Nightingale, I Beg You, To Tell Her How I Feel

O nightingale, I beg you, to tell her how I feel;
I couldn't convince her, that my love for her was real;
I tried to keep a vigil over her and gaze her night and day;
She ignored me, but I held on with all my hope;
I stayed at her threshold as long as I could...
...to hear from her: I love you;
And it amazed me one day, when I found her...
...silently murmuring my name;
I know that she actually murmurs my name because...
...deep within she loves my name;
If I call her by any other name, she'll never say: I love you;
All I can say is I'm sorry!
In my ignorance I called her by more than ninety nine names;
But she never responded to any name to say: I love you;
Then as I realised that she is my reality...
...I started calling her by my own name;
And to my surprise, she responded and said: I love you;
My old heart also started beating from love: I love you!
