Obama Or Mccain? Poem by Denys E. W. Jones

Obama Or Mccain?

Rating: 1.0

November 4th is drawing near,
I’m wholly at a loss –
Who am I going to vote for?
Where shall I put my cross?

It’s keeping me awake at nights,
I lie and rack my brain –
Republican or Democrat?
Obama or McCain?

I’ve heard Obama’s skin is black,
The Wasp McCain’s is white.
Obama leans towards the Left,
McCain tends to the Right.

Some think Barack’s a Muslim,
I know that’s utter tosh.
They say McCain’s a Christian,
But so is Dubya Bush.

Obama’s good on telly.
McCain looks statuesque.
Obama’s big in Europe,
McCain in the Midwest.

Obama lacks experience,
McCain’s a war-scarred Vet.
Obama’s wet behind the ears,
But he can surf the Net!

There’s pros and cons to both of them,
Advantages, drawbacks.
So hard to choose between the two –
Will either cut my tax?

We’ve had eight years of George Bu$h,
Who wants more of the same?
Perhaps I’ll plump for Barack…
Or maybe for McCain.

Election Day is looming,
Less than a month to go.
Now, which way will I cast my vote?
Alas, I still don’t know.

I’d almost made my mind up,
Then doubts arose again.
So one more time I ask myself –
Obama or McCain?
