Ode To Victor Hugo (63) the Miserable (Gossip)

by Freeyad Ibrahim

There are persons whose Malice
is promoted by the sheer need to gossip
Their conversation
resembles a wide hearth
of the kind that rapidly
burns up logs.

They need plenty of fuel
And their feul is their neighbour
So Fantine's doings were observed
Besides which
Some of the women
Were jealous of her Golden Hair
And White Teeth
