Of Circle Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Of Circle

Of circle

What a fool is mankind!

Ask him of the angles
-in circle.

Funny is his answer:
-hundred-three-times, and sixty! "

Man is chained
-facing wall in front
-is nailed, tied.

"No! "
"No! "
"No! "

Want to shout
- "is not so; you are wrong! "

Maximum in angles is ninety
- (right angle)
-that is when sun is king of the day.

Look at sines and cosines
-at tangents, cotangents
-all repeat with plus or minus
-up and down they make waves.

Square the sine and the cosine
-add them up
-regardless of where, what
-outcome is always one
One!
One!
One!

What goes up must come down
-fountain-like

Man is fool
-fooled, abused
-sealed to chair
-and behind is fire
-of which rises flame.
-On the wall dance shadows
-dolls, puppets and the toys,
-animals, politics and borders.
-Voices come as lecture:
- "White; persons of colour
-latter is low-grade…"
- "This is male, that female…
-latter has less brain…"

This is how
-sealed are laws
-of the race
-and colour
-and gender
-and borders
-and anthems
-and the faiths
-religions
-or other barriers
-to thin us and divide
-to confirm and accept
-masters' role and slaves'.

This is how we become the barren
-thin clouds in patches
-with no rights, powerless.

They keep us unaware
-of the life out of cave
-behind gate and hidden.

No talks of the sun, sky
-galaxies and stars
-and the dying comets…

Siblings, brothers and sister
-my lovely sons, daughter
-those around, my neighbours
-I hear the alarm
-let's wake up and unite for the fight.
