Unkindness is that inner conflict unaddressed
That erodes the human soul inside like rust,
A rotting from within that's not expressed
Its victim is the Self that lives its own distrust.
It cannot feel any good though it may try,
Its dismal outlook seeks to crush and to destroy.
In proud derision looks for faults with its eye,
Such darkness of the heart won't ever find its joy.
