Of Such Things Of Beauty Poem by Francis Duggan

Of Such Things Of Beauty

Often in my dreams i hear and i see
A male robin singing on a silver birch tree
When Spring has arrived with her wildflowers and green
And the bluebells are in bloom on the ditch of every bohreen
Far north of where i now am where i lived as a boy
Learning of Nature's ways a thing i did enjoy
And though the passing of time has left me looking wrinkled and gray
I still enjoy learning of Nature today
Yet of Nature so little i know i have come to realize
And this in itself should not be a surprise
Since Nature's secrets are many and her wonders not few
And this is not saying anything that is new
The dappled trout basking in the pool of a sunlit stream
Of such things of beauty sometimes i do dream.
