Of Weddings And Revelry

Sunday, Sunny Sunday
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
May it remain a wedding to be remembered
Never a fading of love should it ordain
May there be a seeding of semen at sometime
Such that it results in the breeding of a child.

May the chocolates be the harbinger of eternal passion
Which always stays in fashion
And keeps the attractive groom always swashbuckling
And the pretty bride dashing.

May the jasmine woven together into strips measuring from the hand upto the elbow
Signify the growing of bond within the families
And the showing of the professional dancers
And the seizing of the wonderful moment by the ones who came on stage.

May the orchids set in harmony on the display table
Be the clue to all the pheromones in the air
And may that they may slay the demons in everybody's lives
And let all of us pray that there are other such ceremonies
Where we wine and dine and meet people fine
And hear the exchange of marriage vows, I am thine and you are mine,
And enshrine God in our lives for he is divine.

Today is Thanksgiving Monday in Canada
And it ranks among the top in springing as a surprise event
And bringing to the viewers as a planned show
And merits singing, Monday, sweet Monday,
My husband would add, and which is a holiday
And which is not Mayday.

Therefore, bring out your stuffed turkeys
But you don't require sweet peas to make them
You would rather settle for vegetable broth
And a tomato soup with roasted potato
For the honeyed sonnys which satisfies your craving for a luncheon
You would rather get take-out dinners
And become a sinner of a wee bit of gluttony.
Happy Thanksgiving Monday!

And Jimmy Stewart said, It's a wonderful life. And Louis Armstrong said, What a wonderful world it is. And I say that all the weddings and other occasions I have been to in Bangalore, India and the weddings and banquets I have had the good fortune of attending here, including the weddings of Mike Daum and Elena, Nargis and her husband, Ken and Candice, Nisha and Rishi and Nikil and Shannon and Manasa and Anil, have been the ice cream sundae with hot fudge and nuts on the top. As my son Pranav S. Dayanand used to say, Please, Please, with a cherry on top, invite us to nice gatherings and we shall reciprocate. Like begets like, as they say. However, I say that unlike also occasionally begets like.
Please note 2: I have a children friendly video, The Beaver is the weaver, published on Facebook and YouTube. As I had learnt as a fairly new bride from my husband's friend, the beaver is a slang for the female unmentionables. I have confirmed this via research on the internet.
