Often alone,
in the first light of dawn,
I sing my song.
Among all living things,
this secret to you
I dare to reveal:
my heart's pure thought.
I know this secret is true—
our divinely human nature
binds one's spirit's coffer,
holding fast to the treasure divine:
knowledge and wisdom.
The deluded mind cannot fill
its coffers with pearls and diamonds.
Those poor in wisdom offer no light;
charlatans, eager for fame, often pose
as God's men.
On their breast-coffers, a Satanic soul,
as wretched as Iblis,
rebels against God's command—
cutting off from the divine
and binding us in fetters.
Long ago,
I hid my essence, my divine self,
in the darkness of earth,
and became wretched,
winter-sad, over the ice-locked
waves of my mind.
Wherever I now go, far or near,
in the mead hall of my heart,
I find my real persona divine,
who comforts my soul
with his melodious lute.
He who has come to know
this holy sound within
understands the hidden secret
of his existence:
as he receives the Lord's beloved words
of awakening and enlightenment.
