Oh Dear Heart! Poem by Meeran Jamal

Oh Dear Heart!

I wish I had a heart of silver or gold
Deprived of feeling anything at all
I feel pain even if the pain isn't mine as such
I feel love even if the the love isn't mine much
I wonder if my heart is mine at all
Oh dear heart why do you feel so deeply and care
When expressing it to the world makes you scared
Why not just stay away from the real world
As every news of a deprived soul
Strikes you hard like a lighting bolt
Friendship and love are no different at all
Expressing them is a tough call
Doing nothing to others just burdening my soul
Oh dear heart! why arise feelings that will never see the light
Hiding them will only add to the plight
Oh dear heart! why be so generous that you feel for all
I wonder if my heart is mine at all
I wish I had a heart of silver or gold
Deprived of feeling anything at all
