Oh! Nigeria, Who Did This To You? Poem by Dr Anthony Onoja

Oh! Nigeria, Who Did This To You?

Rating: 3.5

When Nigeria was born, beauty accompanied her with devils
When leaders were given to humanity, ours were devils
handed to us from the bosoms of Hades
When shall our beloved nation rejoice it pride
Who did this to us in daylight of civilisation?
Who made the Monsters Princes and Men slaves?
Why have we been so fool in our sixty years of tour?

Our fathers came with bare hope and beat their chest in vain
Our mothers insulted them and called them failures
These were the true national Heroes that withstood all odds
They were indeed the great men Africa ever bore and failed to raise

Today their graves were left unmarked
No trumpet were sound nor lowered flag for these fallen Heroes
the ones alive were robbed of their old age rights
What then do we celebrate?
Ofcourse the thieves that stole our honour and pride

They now build their thrones on the back of the masses
They choked our beloved nation in the hither of corruption
Who indeed shall save us from these dare devils in flesh?
What do we do to escape this torture?

When you yell, you quieted behind bars of kirikiri
When you quiet they afflict you with high bills and tariff
Oh! Nigeria, who did this to you?
Where is now your greatness among your brothers in Africa?
Though broken by demons from hell
Bed-wetting by lust of corrupt sluts porn-stars
Yet, you shall someday take your place among your brethren
I see hope rising from the tides of the yellow sun..
