Oh Solitude Poem by Tathagata Mukhopadhyay

Oh Solitude

My solitude, I enjoy thee,
It’s only you I have with me.

There was a time I hated you,
Like a deadly malady,
You weighed me down with thousand tons,
I was stuck in a dark alley.

Time, the healer, pulled me out
With layers and layers of soothing balm,
It taught me to enjoy thee,
It taught me to enjoy calm.

I learnt to open up the cave,
I learnt the trick to keep busy,
I sing aloud and out of tune,
My own priceless melody.

No one waits for me at home,
A fact that I do enjoy,
With no one in the vicinity,
My thought is my only ploy.

I care a damn if no one comes,
I have no use for the phone,
My seclusion, I love you thee,
You are my best possession.

In my own sunset-cocoon,
That I have now built for me,
Oh Solitude, You reside there,
I truly, truly enjoy thee.

A good depiction of the serenity of life in solitude, well articulated and insightfully penned with conviction. A lovely poem indeed. Thanks for sharing Tathagata. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.

Solitude is what I enjoy. The noise of the world detracts from my very being. Excellent poem, Tathagata
