Okay Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Okay

This madness to have it,
Has to be a strategy.
To have all races,
Embrace and laugh hysterically.

There is nothing else,
That makes okay...
These days to make them,
Taken seriously.

Within our midst,
A death of virus sits to exist.
And a pandemic Worldwide,
Keeps people socially distanced.
Leaving many to still deny,
Their lives are being threatened.

And yet...
Someone elected,
Wishing to be viewed...
As either Zeus or Atlas.
Although performs as if 'Linus'.
Even 'Snoopy'...
Characters created,
In a cartoon called 'Peanuts'.
Hopes to achieve the same fame.

And today...
The characters of 'Peanuts',
Sit together.
Atop the roof of a doghouse.
With binoculars on their eyes.
Searching the skies.
For any signs of reality.
That Charlie Brown,
Says has to be found.

Since...
One appointed and consciously,
Elected as leader...
Creating more havoc to have believed.
Can not be nothing more,
But entertainment for the ratings!
Ratings 'Peanuts' desperately need.
To officially announce,
A comeback wished again on TV.

"Charlie?
Where is Lucy? "

-She didn't believe me when I told her,
There is a guy...
Creating such outrageous lies.
And...
Believed by the people.
Who had one time,
Been our loyal and devoted fans.-

"So...
Where is she now? "

-Doing her best,
Trying to find...
What drugs those folks are on.-

"But, Charlie?
She's a cartoon character.
Just like us! "

-Okay.
You and I understand that.
But Lucy?
Whatever I said,
She was not convinced.
You guys remain searching the skies.
For any evidence,
We have been existing...
In another dimension.
And this alternate Universe,
May threaten any chances we have...
For that 'comeback' we wanted so bad.-

"Charlie?
Here comes Lucy.
Higher than a kite."

-I told her,
Whatever she did.
To not step a foot inside,
That 'White House'.
But no!
What did she do?
Ignored my suspicions! -

"Charlie?
If I said,
I have spotted a few UFOs.
What would you say? "

-Thank God! -
