Older Thoughts Poem by Phil Soar

Older Thoughts

I never thought that growing old would arrive so fast
Yet watching in the mirror as I shave
I see things on reflectionnthat I hope will last
And think that there is something I can save

Not my looks, because I never had them
No classic six pack, with a good physique
A head of hair I could comb in a pattern
Or the please#ant way I smelled, when at my peak

I never had expected how my aches and pains
Would leave a haggard look upon my face
Or how the many pills I take increase again
And how my hips and knees would be replaced

I never thought that growing old would come so fast
Or that my zest for life would slowly fade
But the memories I have, from all those days gone past
Would put all the tomorrows in the shade
