On A Dream Of You And I Poem by Matthew Holloway

On A Dream Of You And I

On a dream of you and I
what could there have been
a home, holidays, memories made
a life shared between two souls
what could have been
how will we ever know
a time passed us by
an opportunity fell away
no chances taken, not one
on a dream of you and I
that life, which could have been
was never realised
a tear swells, never falls
I keep this tightly held
on a dream of you and I
lost kisses, empty hands
and forgotten looks between
if only, what if, questions unanswered
on a dream of you and I
how do we finish this prose
who will ever know
