Work Poem by Matthew Holloway

Work

Rating: 4.9

Forget the nine till five
This modern working life
Calls on all hours of the day
And every day of the week
Like a routine well bedded in
It goes on and on and on
A contractual obligation
Just to pay the bills
Put food on the table
Retirement is anticipated
Till then the working day
Is forever repeated

Work..work...work there is no time to play, time is money so don't delay on trivial pursuits for they don't pay when the master calls better heed his say?

Work is part and parcel of life except of course those who are born with disabilities. Even the rich born with a silver platter works. A fact of life that has its pains and gratification. An insightful poem. Beautifully written.

This is a good topic for a poem about the habituation of work. I have had times in my life that I have worked at a front desk from seven am to five thirty pm, also round the clock on a truck, and some years of unemployment: and it's not until those unemployment years that I look back and think, " how could I have ever done that? " It is such a preoccupation of life- the work day and the habituation of work. Interesting to share perspective as a poem.

We wish for retirement yet we do not want to get old. Work is hard yet when challenges are met and success it is rewarding, Though rewards are sometimes few. Great to read. Oh for the lotto life to help myself and many others.

Working is no fun anymore, since it has become an obligation, just to pay the bills and have food on the table. Loveliest expressed, well worded. This poem deserves to be chosen as The Member Poem Of The Day, Hurray! CONGRATULATIONS, Matthew, enjoy this Victory Today. God´s Blessings in Abundance for you and your family.10
