On A Fuzzy Noon Poem by Phillip Nine Mafunga

On A Fuzzy Noon

In all complexities, time is crucial
From manmade crises
Innocence coerced us to settle down
With enemies we could have avoided
Sordid souls how we have turned ourselves into
Simply because we do not want to face our own fears

We walk and daydream
Amongst enemies, whose smiles are the widest
Teeth, snow white with deceit and malevolence
With love making eyes encoded with nothing but death
Well, it is always great to have enemies that you can respect
For it is shear idiocy to trust a harmless man

We take a nap and slide ourselves into dreamlands
Lands of both serenity and turmoil
Wherein mortality finds extension and minute longevity
The concise exposition of the enemy within needing subduing
In that, our gripe serves no purpose at all
For silence is peace unto the departed but internal upheaval to the living
