On A Lie Poem by Francis Duggan

On A Lie

Immortality for humankind is based on a lie
Us humans are mortals and born to die
Many of us our d n a in our genes will survive
In the children we helped to create a little of us may remain alive
Of a life after death ask someone other than me
Deceased people i have known in the flesh i never again see
And none i have known of have come back to me to tell
Of a life after death or of a heaven or hell
Eventually the Reaper of lives will come reaping my way
Like all others i was born to die on some night or day
The biological clocks on our lives ever ticking away
Life's Reaper on our lives has the final say
Us humans are born as mortals and mortals do die
This happens to be fact and fact never lie.
