On An Overcast Day Poem by Dean Meredith

On An Overcast Day

Rating: 5.0

A walk seemed out of the question
So I went for it anyway
The sky only half foreboding
Blue peering through the grey

I took my trusty brolly
It is large and safe
I wore my old Reeboks
The ones I've had since TAFE

And sun shone down along my stroll
And rain fell soft & proud
Green space quietly appearing
Left alone as they had vowed

Birds flew too tree to branch
Snails slithered leaving their goo
And it glistened like silver
Neatly avoiding my shoe

And God watched behind me
As he is known to do
Hardly a shadow left to cast
But I felt him right on cue

And air came in & journeyed out
My lungs were filled with glee
And my living brain wandered on
For all the world to see
