On Hearing John Mcauliffe Is In Hospital

A fellow I have known for many a year
John McAuliffe in hospital such sad news to hear
In Annagloor with Liz his devoted wife
He has lived for more than five decades of his life

There they raised their two children Mary Chris and John
On looking back the Seasons how quickly time has gone
On looking back in time it only seems like yesterday
That he worked in the meadows making wynds of hay.

The Johnny Mac I remember was sturdy and strong
Not afraid of work he worked hard all day long
One who to him does have a humorous side
His word is his bond and in his word he takes pride.

Fond memories of good people such as he till death one does save
His siblings are deceased Peggy, Florry and Dave
But the great flame of life in his noble heart burn
And to his family in Annagloor he will return

'Tis of people like Johnny Mac bards are inspired to sing
And illness with him is just a temporary thing
The reaper for him will surely have to wait
For his century of years he will celebrate.
