On the day of Alast—remember?
When our eyes first met,
I blushed, faintly,
As you called my name and asked:
Am I not your Lord?
Trembling, I whispered:
Yes, my Lord.
Your curls brushed soft against your cheek,
And your beauty bewitched me.
Oh, the way you smiled
When our eyes entwined—
Enough to steal the breath from my heart.
But you wrapped me in robes of earth,
And cast me out to test my vow,
While you veiled yourself—
Veil upon veil.
Still, longing lingers in my chest—
To see you, adorned as a bride,
As on the day of Alast.
To relive that dream,
Where I was the lover,
And you, my queen.
In that time, all was whole—
We were only for each other.
The way you loved me—
As you loved your own self.
Though I was but a soul, your decree,
And you, my commander,
Still, you let my soul roam free.
It was all so perfect—
Until the dawn of knowing broke.
My heart splintered as I saw—
I was a fool to think you my other.
For you, the master of the game,
Had been playing hide and seek
All along.
