On This Earth Poem by Octavian Cocos

On This Earth

On this Earth - our lovely planet -
Which spins quickly and is strong
One can tell that there is something
Obviously going wrong.

Too much evil, too much malice
People have become so mean,
Have forgotten about virtue,
Their soul is small, unclean.

If we went to Mars, I wonder,
Or to our moon, some day,
Could we make a world much better
Than the one we have today?

Or would be far more exciting
To jump like a graceful deer
In a parallel dimension
Through a wormhole, without fear?

But we'll miss the Earth so badly,
Or at least so I believe,
Because here we still are able
Like in Paradise to live.
