Once Was Poem by Erika Wingo

Once Was

Rating: 5.0

Why do I allow myself
To think back to those times
Of warmer, brighter days
While I'm stuck here
Deep in between shades of gray

Love that flickers
In and out
The words left untold
Burn a hole through my soul
While the shadow on the wall
Becomes not one, but two
And the wind carries whispers
From me to you

Old photos and memories of happiness
How we used to be
When we had nothing but love
For each other
What once was...how sad

Emotion speaks with the purest voice...the wind carries whispers from me to you, that is very good writing my friend.
