One Day You'Ll Know Poem by Concetta Salter

One Day You'Ll Know

Bang my head against a wall to make me please forget,
All the foolish thing‘s you‘d do. And all the things you said.
Let me have amnesia. Forget the bitter past.
Forget the way you looked at me and said that we would last.
How could I have been so dumb. So foolish and naïve?
How could I believe each lie you ever dared to speak?
every time I see you now, I do not see myself.
Your tearing up the girl I was, and now I’m someone else.
Bitter, cold, and dark inside. A monster through and through.
I guess that’s what they call a girl who’s heart was torn in two.
every time I see your face I always turn away.
I can not bear to see the look that comes upon your face.
Pity, I don’t need it no. I need a whole lot more.
I need a way to get you back. To even out the score.
How I wish we never met. We never said hello.
it would have been the only chance to ever let you go.
Tossing in my bed at night. Your voice still lingers clear.
Wish that I could let you go, and say goodbye to tears.
I hope that time will heal this wound, just like the saying goes.
I hope that time is not to far. I’m praying that it’s close.
In this poem I write the words I’m most afraid to speak.
Holding all these thoughts inside is making me feel weak.
One day soon I promise you, I’ll let you know my pain.
You’ll feel it just as strong as me. I promise that you’ll pay.
