One Dismal Day Poem by Little Star

One Dismal Day

Rating: 5.0

The veins of lightning
In unusual brilliance
Sewn from the dark angry sky
The distant laughter
Of the thunder
Like sounds of thousand horses
Hoofing above the earth
Even the fiercest hyenas
Hide themselves in gloomy caves
Humans shield themselves
Under their shuttered dwellings
Too frightened to watch and listen
To the cracks of one dismal day

LIttle Star, you have exploded into brilliance in this fine poem of vivid story architecture with variegated intense shades of charcoal grey, silver sparkle. I can even smell the atmosphere and apprehension. Love your unique timing/rhythms in all of your work. I've read and enjoyed several of your poems. Cy
