One For The Headphones Poem by Raj Dronamraju

One For The Headphones

It's possible, this zone of glory
It's so beautiful you don't want to share
Anyway, others wouldn't appreciate it
They will tell you to keep quiet and go to sleep

Uninterrupted by a night spent with other people
A night spent in competition for conformity
A night spent in spending energy towards no good purpose
I embrace the isolated hours made fun of by other people

For the love that reached my ears
Manifested behind voices of the inspired
I don't need you - Now, that's not said with any anger or hate
But there is no way that knowing you can beat this

The moment of truth indentifies the truth within the grooves
Part of the features of a lazy literature
A literacy amended by technology but unchanged in the singular devotion it creates

Sorry we never really knew each other
Regret free with feet up in my listening room
That was your destiny to know life as a splitting ache to the senses
Mine was to experience an overpowering pleasure best enjoyed alone
