One Last Goodbye Poem by Half Past

One Last Goodbye

salt flavored sweat filled tears
finger nails cracked and dirty from digging down
ripped scratched flesh
struggling against the weight of my arms
shoulders scream in agony
body unable to reach deeper
no shovel around to help me
scooping up handfuls of earth
throwing them over my back
praying for help from above
i search without light
breathing heavily
breathing deep
brushing away the particles before me
my tears make the earth softer
i keep tearing at its surface
reaching deeper and deeper
as if in response to my prayers
rain comes down mixing with my tears
the earth washing away
i dig...
clawing and raking
clawing and raking
i dig...
reaching the wooden gift below
its hard and cold
just like you now
i will breath you life anew
one kiss
one kiss to restore you
one kiss i need
or let me lie here with you
dead for the crows to feed
