One More Summer Poem by Juan Olivarez

One More Summer

One more summer, has come and gone,
So many I have seen pass.
I've seen the trees grow bare as bone,
And the brittle yellow of the grass.

Warm sultry evenings under the trees,
Cicadas singing in the night.
Smelling the gulf carried on the breeze,
Underneath a full moons light.

One more summer fades into the past,
Leaving only sweet memories.
And another winter is coming fast,
As the autumn southward flees.
