One Poem Poem by Greg Gaul

One Poem

Rating: 5.0

I may not live long enough
But I'll try
All I've penned and will do
Will serve me bye and bye
As I traipse through time
Pass friends and shadows
Stopping to scribe about
Freaks and fallows

Remembering remembrances
Lilting moments, spinning dances
Finding bits along the way
Watching dreams go affray
Flitting left, then to right
Spotting hopes to see the light
Telling tales, reaching high
Every word, reason why

And not loving much of it
A misty pantheon
Legions of plodding poets
Murmuring their worn rimes
Looking down, not waking up
Yet wishing to be heard
Just one good word
Maybe the fate of us all

All my days have come to this
All my poems have made it so
One utterance the result of all
All I've thought
All I've wrote
Barely standing, here alone
At the end with my
One poem.
