One True Love - Poem by Josh Burnett
I stand right next to you and hold your hand in mine.
I can feel the life you give and I know that the feeling’s right.
I have never been so in love and have never felt so fine.
I can see you over top of the grey clouds and hear your voice in my mind.
I lay on my back falling asleep and I can feel you watching me though the night.
You are the number one reason why I continue to fight.
I look up into the sky and I can see you my true guiding light.
I can feel your ever flowing presence even though your not in my sight.
And I continue on to believe because you give to me the might.
You reach down to me grabbing my hand and I feel my feet lifting off the ground starting to fly.
My mind becomes so clear as I understand and it begins to lift me up ever so high.
I look down and see no physically land, but you lift my chin as I begin to cry.
You show me the happiness that I can’t comprehend and slowly the wounds mend as time passes by.
I am ever so grateful that I know you and what you stand for.
You have forgiven me so many times and I’m not for sure why.
I laid outstretched on soaked covers with my heart tore.
But you come along and helped me with the pain and I didn’t know what for.
I can only ponder as I look back at all the hurt that was caused.
But when I look back at the times I only smile knowing you made it all stop.
You were the only one there with me when everyone else was not.
I pray to you everyday and thank you for the life you gave back to me.
I stop to smell the roses on the way knowing you was there to take everything away.
I listen to the rhythmic beat of my heart knowing your love will always stay.
Even though this world stays corrupt, but that world always fades.
It’s because of you my life is finding pieces in the right spot.
My mind always develops learning everything you taught.
Your love can only be felt, worshiped and never bought.
I was down to the end, destroying my life, but you took my hand and made me stop.
The only though that ran through me was how could I have been so lost.
And my stomach begins to turn in knots.
I bend on my knees everyday and pray.
Thanking you now for the life that I got.
I know now between you and I.
That you are my one true love.
