One Year Poem by Sam Smith

One Year

Rating: 4.5

Today you have not only turned one year older,
But you have also turned one year wiser;
You have learned that there are things you can and cannot shoulder,
And because of this you have become my most loved adviser.

Today you have turned one year older,
But you have also turned one year bolder;
You aren't afraid of expressing your thoughts and feelings,
And you will go through all of those man made ceilings.

Today you have also turned one year brighter,
Because you’re a natural born fighter;
Because you’re strong emotionally,
And all the battles you have won were not won accidentally.

Today you have also turned one year more beautiful,
Your body is a garden y love to admire;
From the most gorges flowers to the most deadly plant,
You are thee example all others could wish to aspire.

Today you have turned one year older, and as I read this, I stare and wonder.
What have I done to deserve a person like you?
I pray to God that this is no blunder,
For a billion of them can’t compare to one of you.

Today you have turned one year older, and I am thankful for when it began,
Before we were stranger’s with more cons than pros;
Now we see our virtues and flaws and accept them like only we can,
Because we are surrounded by a rivers of hope; which kills our flock of crows.

Today I’m one year more thankful, for I have met you.
Today I am one year happier, for I have seen you.
Today I am one year stronger, for I have held you.
Today I am one year braver, for I love you.

Today you and I will share our future years,
And to be honest, there is no other I wish to do it with,
You are the reason I am the person I am now.

So today in the anniversary of your birth; I unfortunately can only give you one thing on this earth,
The words my heart can’t cease and will never cease to say “I Will Love You until Deaths Betray.”
