I felt it once, if only in a dream,
I wish I could fall asleep and find it once again.
A smile that touched my lips, reached all the way to my eyes.
My heart felt lighter, it was a welcomed surprise,
I can remember the joy I felt in that dream,
followed by a love I couldn't believe.
We laughed, we cried, but left closer each time,
we hugged and kissed, it all felt so real.
But time moved on as it often does.
As the day ended, the dream did pass,
days turned to weeks, and weeks to months.
Happiness turned to pain, and the pain was to much.
It's still a dream I miss and I always will,
I remember it often, while holding on to the thoughts of you.
Now I rest each night, in the hopes of that dream.
Laying in the dark, I try to summon your face,
waiting for you, still missing your touch.
But then I remember, I felt it once, if only in a dream.
