Only Memories Of The Past Poem by Francis Duggan

Only Memories Of The Past

Rating: 1.0

The biological clock is ticking and time's not on my side
And from the one known as the Reaper not anywhere for to hide
Some five and thirty years ago I was in my life's prime
And only in the memory can one go back in time
The battle of survival some do face every day
And that time takes care of everyone seems accurate to say
The future is ahead of us our memories are of the past
We can only live in the present and time keeps ticking fast
On looking back it does not seem that long since I was a young boy
And learning about Nature is a thing I did enjoy
The skylark above the bracken hill carolling upwards did fly
A speck of Nature's music midst the gray clouds of the sky
A memory from my childhood that to this day I do retain
And only memories of the past with us through life remain.
