Open To Be Shown And Taught Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Open To Be Shown And Taught

Love?
I use to think I knew love.
To have and hold,
And kept possesed.
Like a treasure that remained,
Fresh.
Leaving my passion for it,
Forever breathless.
But that was then.
Long before aging,
Took that passion away.
To a dramatic ending.
And here you come,
Bringing that 'something'...
I have never done.

Define that meaning,
You call love.
Define it to me to believe.

I am open to be shown.
And taught.
I am...
Open to be shown and taught.
I am open to be shown.
And taught.
Now...
Teach me love as it should be.
I will admit what you have,
Is a mystery.

Define that meaning,
You call love.
Define it then prove it to me.

I am,
Open to be shown it and taught.
Open to be shown it and taught.
I am.
Open to be shown it and taught.
But don't make your mystery,
Quick to leave.
That kind of love,
Don't leave memories.
One night stands are not for me.
