Optimistically Speaking Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Optimistically Speaking

No one is,
As they were when a kid.
To stay that way to remain.
Childish.
Inconsiderate of others.
Disrespectful.
Self serving and thoughtless.

Although,
Optimistically speaking...
With patience and tolerance kept intact.
It is best to keep positive.
And look at life,
With hope and a bright perspective.
To know and realize,
Some children will never grow up.
Even when provided the tools,
To prove otherwise.
As if they are on a mission to seek,
Attention to get and keep at any cost!
Done to slowly wear off...
A view,
Doing its best...
To cling onto optimism.

But there are those 'kids',
Who seem determined to be punished severely!
And...
With the toughness of love to give,
Needed.
Regardless of the jail time spent.
Teaching a lesson.
Taxpayers understand.

However...
It is the government that is allowed,
To make foolish laws and rules...
That create alcoholics.
Drug users.
And those obviously high,
On prescribed medication and pretense!
Leaving many disciplinarians,
Asking forgiveness.
With teeth to grit and balled fists.
