Oriental Spiritual Capriccio
By William He
I. HOLY MOUNTAINS
Tender light of shelter.
Circling the snow-flanked peaks afar,
Mythical beasts to exist here.
Greenish vapour at decline of day swimming,
Stepped labyrinth and thorny dell,
Tortoise alone knows where it dwells.
Wild Spirits are moving.
Shades of gray form stages for the supernatural,
Beneath the alabaster sky.
The russet arabesques in the calm breezes sway,
The Sacred Tree with its lively wit,
Time dries all wantonness with it.
An Echo in Ayakekumu lake floating idly,
And while countless stars pass by,
They more transient than the ray.
Gilding pale streams with heavenly alchemy,
The life awakening through the glades.
Meteorites and neutrons long dissolving,
And bound in the moment of magnetism still.
Through Snake Eyes,
Lulled by hush-song of glittering water,
Someone lap-lapping the heated stones.
The river tossing its head in sprightly dance.
The clouds are at play in the azure space,
The notes of joy from the holy falcons,
Pondering the summits with the snows and rocks.
Splash of colourful brightness,
Alluring the bystander towards the original charm.
The song of diverse life within a whole,
Chasing away all gloom and glum.
II. THE YANGTZE RIVER
Light reveals black mists,
Water mirrored with mirage ahead,
Riding high crest of colorful waves.
The Savior songs to his corrugated white reflection,
With special notes and thunderous roaring tones.
Nearing the crevices,
A moment one glimpses Circe's hand.
Midway between earth and heaven,
The falling blind ripples break in the air.
Pillowing on the tides,
Always there this river which is never still,
Like the moon's ballad from dusk to dawn.
The fabled Red Cliff.
Vomiting the wrecks on its inhospitable bank.
Boundless flood in the ebb and flow,
Yellow Crane Tower,
Floating upon the sapphire floor.
Who can flirt with the pigment of his times,
Landscapes freezing frame-by-frame.
A panorama from the Unconscious then.
In the astringent chuckle of rocks,
An unfathomable stream here.
Silence of senses magnifies the call of the wild.
Following with the lens,
Silhouette against the luminosity well.
The melting hour,
Trickling down from bulrush cupped palms.
Looking for the history,
Then come the men with heavy eyes.
A past-tense imagery,
The shadows dancing under the corrugated bluff.
III. REACHING YELLOW RIVER
Rushing yellow torrents,
Quivering within the wave's intenser day.
Wondrous clouds wander,
Shots pan something supernatural,
The story in reality and fantasy in the swing.
In the thunderous roaring tones.
It dinging melodies too.
A Minotaur fiddles in the maze.
On some sandbar ahead,
The slow-sliding reed marshes,
How time has ticked a long take on the brink.
It is older than the flow of human blood.
Chorus that lingers in the ears and mind,
Crystal luster through secret lots.
Bearing centuries' colorful dossier in the stream.
Swimming to a glare of lights at dawn,
Soul grows deep like the river.
When joys have lost their bloom and breath.
What uneasy and what mournful hours.
Whose Aqua of deep woe.
When in disgrace with people's eyes.
Who seeking that beauteous roof to ruin,
Specter shedding scarred fleshes still.
The technicolor synthesizes madness at this point.
Those falling like faint meteor in the gloom,
Brackish with the salt of human tears.
The unfathomable muddiest water is years,
It growing wiser in its ways,
Adolescent in changing moods.
IV. THEME OF THE GREAT WALL
Somewhere in time,
A different scene belonging to a different world.
The Ouroboros writhing,
A solitude of darkness or of light,
Delusive hope leads pale twilight to her dusky eyes.
When the moon is loud,
She enters the the earth-lipped fissure,
Where the living sleep, scattered like dead leaves.
People are wrapped in old centuries,
On the dusty shore of a dried-up river,
The steep old wooden steps slick with neon green.
Grass shoots in the forest,
The ancient hollow blocks sprawled,
Signal fire turrets are going into blur.
Maple's inarticulate ardors,
Meditation loves to dwell somewhere,
Time will dry all wantonness with it.
The flash-back fires rise up,
Across the sulphur-colored bulwarks,
Scarlet stars a thousand leagues athwart the heaven.
Over the impregnable pass,
Thunders fall heavily into a stark shadows,
Into the blue and burning lands with leaden grey.
On irised wings to worlds unknown,
And slowly drifting downward again,
A whirling meteor to fume to ashes after an abrupt drop.
Breezy rocky pinnacle,
Serpent cutting the outer crust margin,
Laying out in splendour in the nature space.
In smouldering eyeballs,
The Great Wall pines weave together,
Butterfly Effect beneath historic skies.
V. THE TERRACOTTA WARRIORS
Ourea watches where the warriors reside,
Seraph spreads the wings and lifts the brows,
Shielding a grace forgotten in the world.
Finding the proper angle,
The combatants in gallant array,
Through their eyes to unawakened earth,
A glittering sword out of the east.
Emitting vapors the pool clear as crystal,
Glimmering Venus sweeps by,
Colored streamers perturb the mind.
What reasons bring the army to the light,
The chariots and horses in full flight,
Slash of swords and thrust of spears.
Clay has been moulded to personalize itself well.
The heavy weight of hours has chained,
The things are not what they seem.
It would be nameless feeling,
Woe and wrath between the spirits,
Listening to the raven cough in the sticks,
Moaning the expense of vanished sight.
Down to river of the dazzling gleam,
Palaces and towers quivering,
There is the Pyrrhic dance as yet.
A split-second image,
A hollow wind does seem to tell,
Where the sweet peace will dwell.
VI. STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
Spruces seasoned in magical view finders,
Craggy ghats join cascading waters,
Solitary souls clinging to sacrifice cliff.
The mist rings across the cavity of voidness,
Dream drapery of the precipitous rocks faces,
Buddhists among a thousand mounts.
Prayer wheels of wisdom whirls waiting,
Luster of the peak creates healing flow.
While seeking yesteryears glory in shadow,
Coming through clouds is tin clinking,
Monks rise to the sanctuary of heaven.
The Eightfold Path.
Learning of Samsara and Moksha,
Tiding over the abyss of illusion and delusion,
In the Light of Samantabhadra just now.
Sunset glows fall on the mountain crags,
Serenity spreads its velvety wings,
Lotus flower sprouts at his feet.
Though people's life shrouded in mystery,
They have to cure their foggy mind.
To return to the sad rebirth soon,
For all to escape this stifling and messy world.
VII. UNDER THE LION ROCK
The colossus is shrouded in swirls.
Casually dressed in the dark brown attire,
He eroded and beaten by time.
The tides lift on high,
Like the slow waves of his mane,
Drifting into the retrospection and introspection,
Devouring hours blunt his sharp paws.
Slouching out of the habitual darkness,
In soil below or sun above,
He with a faint sneer and penetrating mind.
Through the rough rocky kloof into grey Nemea,
He is reading the signs of a good world,
A steed mounted by the armored knight.
Only the winner truly gains the right to center stage.
He is losing the way for centuries,
His narrowing lids conceal even.
The brooding hush wakes,
And vanishes into an immensity of fluid indigo,
The light of passion which echoes upon the sea,
Destiny's wish has not been fulfilled yet.
He shall bring the proud to the dust,
Constant, but ever changing,
He shall raise the weak to the spheres.
Along a zigzagged path,
The existence will be just idylling,
Timbre and rhythm bewitching now.
VIII. REMINISCENCES OF PEACOCK PRINCESS
On a wild secluded scene just now.
Fluffing out her feathers,
River plays on her heart the rhythm of waves.
The pale purple melts around her flight.
By the border of the lake,
Who is soaked with Amrita in a banana forest.
Leaves of the waterlily float.
Her perplexity and choice,
Shadow with long and vain regret then.
She sees at central things we cannot espy,
Those lost to hope, in memory yet,
Unfolding an Audrey hepburn tale.
No fantasy speaks to strength of her grace,
Her flounce florescent tails are,
Mascots for the folks in thrall.
The secrets that flow in blood.
All the noble whims of ink,
Enchanting Toungoo heart.
Dazzling malachite green,
Lxora coccinea showing its splendor,
Never has she felt so deeply at one.
With half-formed speech of art.
Passion has worn the wandering heart.
IX. DEEP INTO AUTUMN
Grace resonates being enlightened,
The soul is a golden-white beam of energy field.
Light rays are intelligent,
Time escapes your sense and grasp,
Spiritual seers know the quantum entanglement even.
Meteors shoot across the sky,
Time never rolls back to repeal history,
Same frequency receiving the same information as well.
Green bustles by quantum of light,
beauty covertly enriches synthesis,
Eastern Mystics are running into Victorian Spiritualists here.
Looking back to see lost resonance,
Separation to heighten the suspense of illusory,
Universe is in its way to sway betiding mystique ever.
To gaze fixedly and ponder,
As when shadowed by the clouds,
Still leaves fall apart from the trees.
Double Life of Veronique,
Attraction is an art of creation into new world,
Flux of magnet is quantum pull of gravity redounding then.
Chinese parasol in layered film,
Vastness is void redounding to blue,
A holier symbol still in seal when the fall breeze blow comes.
Maxwell escaping from amplituhedron,
Stepping into the world of the immortals,
Pure magnetic electricity sparkles with consciousness there.
Behind the Great Wall ruin,
In the shadow of the Karakoram Pass,
In the grime filled grind of dusty disillusion near.
Blurs and flashes wiz by,
A wave-system controls all the places,
Desire bewilders spewing darkness now.
X. SUNRISE AT SEA
Sprays with many a sorcerous hue,
Giant fishes swim through the sky,
Through statue of Helios which huddled sea-mists fly.
The magnified leechee nuts in the water,
A delicate amethyst is deviating from fading star.
Sunbeams gilding each crest in turn to meet the shore,
Caressing the clouds with its carmine gleams,
Seeing its reflection in crystal blue stream.
Broad dome of the skies on,
Phoenix is whirling in dizzy flight,
Warming the aura lost in the clouds.
The time tunnel is far longer and the lustre is elusive,
Tones emphasize pure yellow rays of hope,
Ripples quiver across the surface well.
All colors the sun rise is portraying,
As shades of light on light rise radiant from its crest.
The sea-blue morning loiters by cliff where Siren leans,
Purple shadow comes and,
Chants in orgy on a solar day.
The waves are years,
With the monotonous cadence,
Flowing the nostalgic lyric lines.
