Orlando Pulse Shootings: Requiem Memorial Respect Poem by Terence George Craddock

Orlando Pulse Shootings: Requiem Memorial Respect

they were not killed
because they were American
they were killed
because they were GAY
mourners know they were killed
because an ignorant hate filled
individual killed them because they were GAY;
they are flying the flag which represents their GAY
freedom choice they have made the right intelligent choice;
so why violate their rights with a flag which is not the rainbow
colour of their cause; respect their GAY
pride courage to stand in public and reclaim their streets
in Orlando; to mourn their lovers friends brothers with their GAY;
pride flag flying high in rainbow love colours

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Written in June 2016 on the 14.6.2016.
Written after hearing the tragic news that a gunman had killed 49 people and wounded 53 others, early Sunday morning at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando Florida, on June 12 2016.
An appropriate delay was made before posting this poem out of respect to those who lost and the grief of their families. We mourn all who lost their lives, send our blessings and best wishes for a speedy recovery to all the wounded and hope all present, who endured emotional trauma will soon be able to resume their lives. We extend respect for the grief and mourning of all families friends; but a tribute must be made and respect paid in words to those who lost their lives to an angry intolerant hate filled individual.
